A Word from Dana Herron,
Seed Manager

Connell Grain Growers, Inc. was organized in 1930 by a group of farmers that recognized the need to collectively merchandise their grain. In 1964 the seed conditioning facility was built.

The CGG board of directors recognized that adequate supplies of high quality seed were important to produce top yields. Washington State University had just started its foundation seed program and Gaines wheat was just released by the legendary wheat breeder Orville Vogel. Subsequent major expansions have occurred in 1993, again in 1994 with the acquisition of Kaysons Seed Company to spur remarkable growth.

The CGG board of director has adopted an aggressive marketing posture. By forming business relationships with companies like Dairyland Seed, Western Plant Breeders, Cal West, Resource Seeds, Inc., ProGene, Landmark Seed Company, Washington State University and Monsanto, we offer products backed by years of research and development. Connell Grain Growers continues a strong seed presence in 22 states and 7 foreign counties.

We consistently strive to assure high returns for the money you invest in seed.
      Sincerely,

      Dana L. Herron, manager
Seed Division

Conservation Reserve Program

Connell Grain Growers Seed Division has developed a comprehensive program to meet the exacting specifications of the Conservation Reserve Program, as defined by the National Resources Conservation Service. With the grower's permission, our staff works in tandem with NRCS personnel to develop a detailed proposal that meets the established criteria for CRP project certification.

CGG research defines growers' exact needs on a tract-by-tract basis, and provides a detailed accounting that includes blend sheets, tags and statements. This is summarized in a spreadsheet that is simple and easy to use. This CGG service makes process of cost sharing very simple at the end of the project.

Due to our research and extensive program experience, the CGG seed division can warrant compliance with NRCS specifications for seed and shrubs. "We guarantee NRCS compliance or we make it right." CGG shrubs are hand-planted, one at a time, up to 50,000 per day, exactly where the grower and the CRP plan directs. We calibrate customers' drills as a part of our insistence on accuracy and performance. CGG financing packages can include zero-down out-of-pocket expenditures.

In addition to unrivaled CRP service we offer customers a premium product to help ensure their success. In 1999, the CGG Seed Division built a state-of-the-art grass blending facility allowing us to put out seed precisely to optimal specification. For maximum seedling survival we treat our CRP grass with April XL fungicide.

Our knowledge of the Conservation Reserve Program and insistence on performance means we often can save growers a significant amount of money!

In many cases we can suggest CRP grass blends that not only save you money up front, but also enhance your chances of successful stand establishment. Simple and cost-effective management tips often make the difference between a successful stand and a complete failure.

Work with a company that is owned by its customers, that pays a return on investment. Our prices are competitive and our service is always the best.
