When consumer products
fail they can cause fires, injuries and even deaths. To prevent death
and injury, the Congress enacted the Consumer Product Safety Act of
1972. This law directs the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
to "protect the public". The CPSC's
web site disseminates information about products that may cause
injury.
