Hose & Fire Streams

Saturday's recruit class taught us the proper application of water to effectively and efficiently control a fire. The way we practice, we focus on life safety, property conservation, and environmental protection. Our instructors guided us in water conservation which in turn minimizes water damage when combating a fire. We firefighters may not seem like we are cautious in our fire suppression efforts, but in all actuality we do the best we can to save your property. That is why we are there in the first place. Small amounts of damage are acceptable when faced with the extreme situation of losing the entire structure, or possibly life.

All the while, we learned about hose, water applications, and proper firefighting techniques, we were also constantly drilled on previous lessons such as ventilation and accountability, and rescue. This recruit class has been amazing in the amount of knowledge I have gained and I hope all of you interested in firefighting take this particular academy. It will truly tell you if you are cut out to be a fire fighter.
