and Montana and conducted locally by the County/Area
Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with
over 5,000 volunteer leaders.
There are over 70,000 4-H members in Washington
and over 5.5 million members in the United States.
Activities center around the interest of the individuals
with their projects as a fundamental basis of 4-H.
Projects exhibited at fairs and livestock shows
by 4-H members are a direct demonstration of the
work designed to illustrate the value of that particular
4-H program to the members. To facilitate this individual
4-H effort, each 4-H club or group is under the
direction of one or more local volunteer adult men
and women who serve as 4-H leaders.
